Consumer Reports finds smart TVs are easily hackable

YONKERS, NEW YORK — Smart TVs from Samsung and TCL were shown to be vulnerable to hacking exploits, according to an investigation by Consumer Reports.
The publication says it tested sets from Sony, Samsung, LG, TCL Roku and Vizio against hacks.
They discovered exploits in Samsung and TLC Roku Smart televisions. Consumer Reports found that the hackers could gain remote control of the television and play videos, adjust volume, install apps and disconnect it from the Wi-Fi network.
In a blog post, Roku said the publication "got it wrong" and said there was "no security risk." Samsung told Consumer Reports they were evaluating the issue.
