Nutella mega-sale sparks ‘riot’ among French shoppers

Shoppers try desperately to get their hands on Nutella following a 70 percent discount sale in some French supermarkets on Thursday (January 25).
The supermarket chain Intermarché reduced the prices of the chocolate hazelnut spread from 4,70 to 1,70 euros. It created chaos in different parts of the country, such as in this supermarket in the north of France, near Lille.
In the video, one shopper can be heard saying: “My God! This isn’t normal!”
The filmer described the scene as like “a riot.”
In some places, even the police had to intervene to separate instances of fighting.
