People focus on 'African' being a nationality, versus a consciousness or political identity. So people get confused when people like Amara La Negra say she's African (or 'Afro-Latina'). People think if you're Latinx, you're automatically light-skinned and have more prominent European features. People also focus on 'blackness' as a racial identity, focused primarily in the U.S., as if people of African descent don't experience the same oppression globally.

People are playing ignorant (or actually are) when it comes to the issue of imperialism and neocolonialism in places on the map where Africans reside.
