Long Lines Form Outside Seattle's New Amazon Go Store

Seattle, Washington’s new Amazon Go store drew large crowds and long lines on its opening day, Monday, January 22. The store is cashierless, with what Amazon calls a “Just Walk Out Shopping Experience.”According to Amazon, the customer could download the Amazon Go app, walk into the store, grab what they want and are able to leave the store – Amazon technology can detect what items were selected and purchased. Shortly after the purchase, a receipt is sent to the customer.The flagship store debuted on Seattle’s Seventh Street on Monday. WBIR reported more than 100 customers lined up outside the store to be one of the first shoppers, and by 8 a.m. Monday, Amazon staff were restocking shelves.
