Wassail is a spiced, mulled apple cider drink that is usually served warm. According to Lifehacker, it was originally consumed as part of a ritual intended to ensure that the apple harvest would be plentiful. You can find bottles of pre-spiced wassail at many stores and, once purchased, you can add alcohol to them. Trader Joe’s has currant juice in it, giving it a pleasing pink color. To make your own, add one ounce gin and one ounce chilled wassail to a champagne flute, then top with chilled sparkling wine. Drink...and commence caroling.
