The California Wildfires Have Burned Over 250,000 Acres Multiple wildfires in California have resulted in massive damage and mass evacuations. The Thomas Fire, the largest of the six fires, is now over 230,000 acres. It is now the fifth largest blaze in California's recent history and authorities have only managed to contain 10 percent of it. The other five fires are over 85 percent contained. The situation remains dire, however, as rain is not in the forecast for another 10 days.
