Jim Read, had a horrific, near fatal, crash experience when his car screwed out of control and snap the 40 centimeter thick concrete poles as it burst into flames.
"We believe a fuel line broke dump some liquid underneath on right rear wheel and you know the rest it took off to the left and totally out of control and..." - Said Read
Read estimates there was over 30,000 tons of pressure when he smashed more than a meter and a half of the concrete pole. It was only a few aches and a scratch and after a near miss on the highway on his way back home to Sydney that night he says it's safer racing on the track.
