An Obama administration was pretty close to ending it, but there was too much protest. Now that someone whose very existence is tied to corporate monopolies, the FCC may very well end it, despite the protest. What is interesting is how many 'libertarians' and 'Republicans' have fallen for the lie that net neutrality's end is going to be beneficial for competition and a positive 'free market', since they support the end of government regulation.
