This video features Nabil Shaban who was interviewed, in 1988, on the Channel Four TV disability magazine programme, "Same Difference", about Granada television's veto of him being cast in the leading role for a children's TV series called "Microman". The "Body Fascist" TV company were afraid of giving Shaban the part because they were worried that him being in a wheelchair would frightened away children viewers.
Harry Barnes, Labour Member of Parliament, subsequently told Nabil Shaban that it was because of this blatant prejudice against a disabled actor by a television company, that prompted him and other Labour politicians to propose the Disability Discrimination legislation.
Also in this video are extracts of Shaban performing some speeches from Shakespeare's
"Hamlet" and "Richard the Third".
