Cyclists Brave Thick Smog Shrouding New Delhi

Thick smog continued to envelope New Delhi on Monday, November 1, after a slight improvement early in the weekend.The poor visibility caused the delay of at least 69 trains, with 22 rescheduled and eight cancelled, The Statesman reported. Delhi Minister Gopal Rai said the capital was in touch with environmental scientists and was closely monitoring the situation.The air quality index (AQI) stood at 468 on Monday. The index reached a high of 486 on November 9, the day the capital saw its worst air quality. Neighboring cities Mandir Marg, Anand Vihar and Punjabi Bagh recorded similar levels.
