Saint Simon, aka Maximón, is a saint from Guatemala who sports a sombrero, black suit, and mustache. There's some debate as to whether he's a Mayan god or a Catholic saint, but he's commonly known as the Saint That Doesn't Discriminate.
His worshippers include local gang members and prostitutes, and the priests who guard his shrine often drink alongside it. The Catholic Church doesn't officially recognize Maximón, although his alters usually have images of Mary. But regardless of what religion he belongs to, the devout continue to honor their nonjudgemental saint.
