Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a fun and hilarious childrens book read aloud. The kids book starts with a family in the kitchen on Saturday morning. The childrens story Mom is preparing pancakes and grandpa is flipping them at the stove. Grandpa sits down with them that night and tells them the best bedtime story they had ever heard. As we read along together, we see the Grandpa tell a story about the town called Chewandswallow. This small town did not have any food stores because it was always Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The weather came three times a day and provided breakfast lunch and dinner for the entire town. When it was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, it never rained snow or rain, but instead soup, juice, hamburgers, meatballs and more fell from the sky. In this story for kids, when it was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, they would go outside with a plate and collect food for the day. Restaurants would merely have open ceilings and people would catch their meal at the table. The sanitation department had to clean up the streets from all of the food that would fall from the cloudy meatball sky. In this book for kids, life was fantastic in the town until the weather took a turn and only gross food was falling from the sky. No longer was it cloudy with a chance of meatballs, but violent storms of huge food was falling from the sky. Fifteen inch drifts of cream cheese and jelly sandwiches blew in and there was even a salt and pepper wind with a tomato tornado. Now the town was wishing that it was only Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs but things were getting worse. People were afraid to go outside because of giant meatballs falling on the townspeople. As the childrens story read aloud near its end, they built rafts made out of giant stale pieces of bread and sail to a small coastal town.
