Downshifting an 18 Speed Transmission is a little more difficult than up shifting, as the driver needs to get the feel of the truck and speed and synchronization becomes more important. Its an important skill that requires proper technique and lots of price. \r \r We use the clutch when downshifting. It is easier on the truck, and its easier on the driver, particularly the new driver. If you use the clutch, then you wont miss a shift, which is very important if youre also using the downshift process to brake.
