The Boy Scouts Of America Will Welcome Girls To Join Packs In 2018
  • 7 years ago
The Boy Scouts are opening their doors to girls.

Starting next year, Cub Scout troops can enroll any gender, with girls eligible to earn Eagle Scout rankings by 2019. The Girl Scouts of the USA criticized the change, saying they were just trying to recruit their members. But the Boy Scouts say the decision would provide more options for parents, and that their values “are important for both young men and women."

The move comes as Boy Scout membership has been on the decline for years. The organization only opened its membership to transgender scouts in January. Before that, it opened up membership to openly gay scouts in 2013.
