Got a samsung galaxy tab 3 android tablet that wont turn on or charge? Here are a few fixes to try including one very effective way of getting your tablet to start charging again. Get more details here: \r
Hold the power button for 10 seconds, 30 seconds or 60 seconds\r
Hold the power button and volume up button down together for 10 to 30 seconds \r
Hold the power button, home button and volume up button. \r
Try a trickle charge - plug the tab 3 into a computer via the usb cable instead of the wall charger hoping that the lower amp charge from the computer would fool the tablet into charging its dead battery. \r

Remove microsd card from its slot and then hold the power and volume up buttons for 20 seconds. Release and press power button again.\r
Have reported that after-market oem usb cables and chargers do not always work with the samsung tablets. Recommend always using the original samsung fory charger and cable, particularly if you are having charging problems.\r

There are a couple of other things that could be at play though: a dirty or damaged microusb port can have the same symptom. Examine the port to see if there is any sign of loose or damaged components and blow the port out with compressed air to remove any dust/dirt. The last thing is this: a defective battery will have the same symptom. A replacement battery can be purchased online for under $20. \r

Replacing the battery isnt that difficult once you have the back off as it is only held in place with four small screws. I would only do this as a last resort if none of the more detailed tips here work for you and *only* if you have not seen any damage to the charging port. The port itself can also be replaced but I would recommend getting a pro to that job. \r
What youll need to do is watch this video (a how to video, you wont replace the battery, ignore the part about the screen replacement, just disconnect and reconnect battery cable), pop the back cover off the tablet, disconnect the battery cable (careful not to damage the circuit board), reconnect the battery cable, and replace the back cover. Connect the charger, within a minute the screen on the tablet will pulse/flicker which is good news, allow it to charge a while, turn on the device, shutdown the wireless wifi, click the power button to turn the screen dark again, and allow to charge for another 6 hours or till fully charged (while its connected to wifi the background processes will affect the charge time, on a weak charger it may not even charge like from an usb port on a computer). What happened is you allowed the battery to run down till dead, on the newer android OS it seems they want the device powered on while charging instead of allowing the option to power off to charge faster (I think this way they get their metrics from us). Its a pain in the tail, but this will allow you to power back on the device without losing anything or go into developers mode.\r
