From The Colossal Squid from the Antarctic Ocean to The Bluefin Tuna from Japan her are 13 Crazy Big Sea Creatures.\r \r Subscribe to Talltanic \r \r \r #6 - The Bluefin Tuna from Japan\r While the Bluefin Tuna is already extinct from the Black Sea, sightings of the fish around the world are going to begin to dwindle down as the demand for the red-fleshed fish rises among Japanese fisheries. The largest Bluefin Tuna ever recorded was ually found off of the coast of Nova Scotia, reached 12-feet in length and weighed a whopping 1,497 pounds! Bluefin Tuna sashimi is a favored dish in Japan, this last year a man spent almost $1 million on a single Bluefin Tuna. With the surging consumption of the specialized sushi increasing the demand, experts say the giant beast could soon be extinct. \r \r \r #5 - The Giant Sea Sponge from Hawaii\r In new, marine biologists stumbled across a car-sized sea sponge off of the coast of one of the Hawaiian Islands. The mass, which was found at a depth of 7,000-feet, measures 7-feet high and 12-feet in length, the size of the average minivan. The giant was found during a 69-day expedition where scientists investigated deep-sea ecosystems in the Hawaiian waters. Scientists were shocked by their discovery since the largest sea sponge previously recorded was found in shallow waters near Canada and measured 11-feet by 4-feet. While scientists are still undecided as to the ex age of the giant sponge, they have estimated that it has been in those waters for at least 2,300 years. \r \r \r #4 - The Giant Sunfish from the Coast of Massachusetts\r The Sunfish gets its name from the elongated amounts of time it spends in the shallow waters, sunbathing. The largest ever recorded sunfish was a massive 14-feet long and weighed over 5,000-pounds; it is easy to see why it is the largest bony fish in the world. Female Sunfish can lay up to 300 million eggs at once which is more than any other vertebrate out there. They can dive to depths of up to 2,600-feet and be as close to the surface as just a few feet. \r \r \r #3 - The Giant Spider Crab from Japan\r These creatures are certainly quite terrifying. Each crab has the leg span up to 12 feet and can weigh up to 45 pounds, at that size, they could easily eat a human child if it were hungry enough. Thankfully for us, these crabs live in the deep depths of the ocean, and they rarely come the oceans surface. They live down in anywhere between 490 and 980-foot depths; thats pretty deep. The spider crab lives forever too as if the rest wasnt enough to scare you. Well, not exly forever, but over 100 years, which is long enough for one of the creepiest creatures on the planet. The Japanese love the taste of the Giant Spider Crab and they even have a fishery that specifically dives down deep to capture these crabs. \r \r \r #2 - Giant Lobsters from the Maldives\r This picture, as well as others, can be found on the apneamaldives Instagram account for the best freediving and spearfishing pictures. It is not uncommon to find lobsters growing to this size or even bigger. The Instagram account is filled with pictures of giant lobsters and jackfish that look larger than life. Most of them take up the half of the humans torso, thats a huge lobster. The favored cooking method of the locals is just grilling it on natural charcoal. \r \r \r #1 - The Colossal Squid from the Antarctic Ocean\r Believe it or not, there is a species of squid that is larger than the legendary giant squid, and thats the colossal squid. Like other species of squid, the colossal squid lives deep beneath the oceans surface, at depths anywhere from 3,300-feet to 7,200-feet. The colossal squid can grow up to 46-feet in length and have an eye that measures up to 16 inches, the largest in the animal kingdom. Unlike the giant squid, whose tentacles have suckers lined with teeth, the colossal squid has swiveling and three-pointed hooks attached to its arms and tentacles. The body of a colossal squid is also wider, more stout, and heavier than that of a giant squid. They capture their prey by waiting and snatching an unlucky meal and crushing it into pieces with its sharp beak housed in the center of its body.
