Human couple demonstrate difficulty giant tortoises have in mating

An amusing video has emerged from the Galapagos Islands of a human couple demonstrating the difficulty giant tortoises have when it comes to mating.

In the hilarious clip the couple wear enormous tortoise shells around their bodies which makes getting close to each other extremely problematic.

Although the funny moment was filmed in 2016, it has only recently come to light.

The Galapagos Islands are home to the Galapagos giant tortoise - the largest species of tortoise on earth.

Mating is an awkward process for these huge reptiles as the male has to carefully balance on the female's shell.
