Thousands evacuated as floodwaters rise in Texas

Dramatic footage has emerged from Houston, Texas of a family being evacuated in a boat.

The video, captured on August 29, shows the people navigating in a boat through the floodwaters amid completely submerged houses and streets.

''My family and I were able to get to higher ground where we had our cars parked in a nearby garage,'' the filmer later wrote online.

''We drove from Katy up to the heights where my uncle lives,'' he added.
