National Zoo's 10-Month-Old Bornean Orangutan Plays With Other Orangutan

The Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute’s 10-month-old Bornean orangutan infant, Redd, had a playdate with one of the zoo’s older orangutans, Bonnie, on August 7.Redd was born on September 12, 2016, to 19-year-old Batang and Kyle. He was the first male Bornean orangutan born at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in 25 years. Bornean orangutan’s are considered an endangered species, as their population has decreased more than 50 percent over the last 60 years, according to the World Wide Fund for Nature.While Redd’s mom still sticks close by, he has begun interacting with the other orangutans at the zoo, as shown in this video.
