Opposition Figure Thanks International Community for Support

Venezuelan politician and human rights activist María Corina Machado spoke after violent clashes on Sunday, July 30 and thanked the 15 countries worldwide who have condemned President Nicolas Maduro’s efforts to rewrite Venezuela’s constitution.Several international governments have condemned Maduro’s efforts to change the Venezuelan constitution, accusing the leader of a power grab. They include Brazil, Mexico, Panama and the US. The EU has also condemned Maduro’s latest move.There were a number of fatalities and incidents of violence during extensive protests in the country on Sunday.It came on the day of the vote to create a “constituent national assembly,” an initiative put forth by President Nicolas Maduro with the goal of rewriting Venezuela’s constitution.
