The Anti- Marriage Proposal-- 1966. Invoking the Roman pagan deities Cupid and Venus, Georges Brassens tells his lady why the Christian sacrament of marriage is actually a sacrilege: it kills love. Many would agree. True to his word, Brassens never married his sweetheart of 30 years for whom this song was intended.
