The diversity prevalent in frogs today can be attributed to an asteroid that caused the mass extinction of dinosaurs. According to new research, the frog population exponentially grew after dinosaurs were killed off. The new information was published in the journal PNAS, dating the increase of frog species to 66 million years ago. The study shows there are more than 6,700 species of frogs.
