Telangana State's Unique Logo Released

The new state of Telangana is to have a logo that is unique. Two iconic monuments - the Kakatiya Kala Thoranam, the landmark of the region's rulers, between the 12th and 14th centuries, and the fabled 423 year old Charminar -are emblazoned, besides the Ashoka emblem, to give the logo a popular appeal.

The logo is to appear first on an invitation that the new government extends for the ceremonies marking the birth of the state and the swearing in ceremony of its first chief minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao on June 2.

On the historic morning, KCR, as he is popularly known, will first lay a wreath at the Martyrs Memorial to commemorate those who laid down their lives in separate statehood agitations and then drive to Raj Bhavan for the swearing in ceremony at 8 15 AM.

After he takes charge as chief minister, he will leave Raj Bhavan for the Parade Ground in Secunderabad where he will unfurl the national tricolor, take the salute and review a parade marking the state formation day. Thereafter, the chief minister will deliver his inaugural address.

Inclusion of the Charminar in the logo is despite the opposition of the BJP in the region which claimed that it will not be symbolic of the regional ethos. The state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy has also threatened to launch an agitation.
