Turkish Citizens Fight Police To Keep Music In Streets

by Andrew CaringiA group of local residents in Istanbul, Turkey, won a battle with police to protect street performers and keep the music playing. A municipal police officer had no idea what he was in for when he was called to shut down a group of street musicians in Istanbul. The routine shutdown took a turn when a musician’s fans began to circle the officer and argue against the police order. The order had been issued after a local business complained that the music was too loud, but fans demanded the musician stay. The officer eventually left the area as the musicians played him out.
