CNN has retracted a report about President Trump’s associate and outspoken supporter Anthony Scaramucci.

CNN has retracted a report about President Trump’s associate and outspoken supporter Anthony Scaramucci.
The news outlet tweeted the editor’s note on Friday evening, writing, “On June 22, 2017, CNN.com published a story connecting Anthony Scaramucci with investigations into the Russian Direct Investment Fund.”
It goes on to say, “That story did not meet CNN's editorial standards and has been retracted. Links to the story have been disabled. CNN apologizes to Mr. Scaramucci.”
Hours later, Scaramucci responded to the retraction by tweeting, “@CNN did the right thing. Classy move. Apology accepted. Everyone makes mistakes. Moving on.”
He may have offered insight into why he thought he was being targeted in an earlier post; after someone on social media notified him of CNN’s report, Scaramucci wrote back, “It's ok. I did nothing wrong. They like hitting friends of @potus who are loyal advocates on his behalf.”
The story had reportedly claimed that Senate investigators were trying to determine if the Skybridge Capital founder had discussed U.S. sanctions imposed on Russia with the head of the Russian fund, Kirill Dmitriev, during the Trump transition period.
Though the fund is on the U.S. sanctions list, both sides had reportedly denied any wrongdoing.
Nevertheless, in mid-January Scaramucci admitted to meeting with Dmitriev in Davos but later told Bloomberg Television that his interest in potentially doing business with the Russian was personal.
