Showing Africa as a technologically advanced and resource-rich continent (through the eyes of one fictional country) is something extremely rare in popular culture. And it's symbolic of a very real truth- while Africa is still the continent with the most wealth, imperialism and (neo)colonialism have diminished the access of those resources to the masses. From my ideological standpoint, watching this trailer should move Africans to not just appreciate our beauty, but organize to protect those resources from invaders, so we all (wherever we are on the map) see the results of that wealth. Africa is our past, present and future.
While i am no fan of feudalism (and this false notion that we were all 'kings and queens'), i am moved more by the the hint of the massive military strategy and organization (as well as the movement to attack any invaders who do not have Africa's interests in mind) shown in the trailer.
On a visual level, the cinematography and fight choreography are stunning. The costumes are amazing. And it's beautiful to see African women who are military strategists as well.
Again, i have no knowledge of the history behind Stan Lee's vision of the Black Panther (nor am i familiar with any of the characters in the series); i am only interpreting this trailer through my ideological eyes.
