Tourists are flocking from Disney to Universal parks
  • 7 years ago
Good news travelers! If you're going to a Disney theme park this year, you might see shorter lines. According to the Global Attractions Attendance report, overall attendance at Disney parks in the U.S. declined about 1 percent in 2016, compared to 2015. The Magic Kingdom theme park in Bay Lake, Florida, was down by about 0.5 percent and Disneyland in California was down by 1.8 percent. Universal parks seem to be the beneficiary of the drop as attendance at in the U.S. increased by 7.4 percent in 2016, led by a nearly 14% increase at Universal Studios Hollywood. While there isn't a sole cause of the decline at Disney parks, it's suggested by the report that increased ticket prices, as well as Disney focusing its resources in Asia, are just some factors.
