Goldfish in Sweden fitted with mini harness that allows him to survive

SWEDEN — Earlier this month, the owner of a goldfish in Sweden noticed one of their goldfish was unable to swim properly, and it was floating at the bottom of the fish tank. The owner came up with a solution to aid their pet.

The fish was likely suffering from swim bladder disease, a common disorder in aquarium fish caused by intestinal parasites or constipation due to high nitrate levels from being over fed. The swim bladder, an internal organ filled with gas, allows the fish to control its buoyancy, and an overinflated swim bladder makes swimming upright functionally impossible.

Understanding this, the owner used a few twist ties and some cork to create an underwater wheelchair of sorts. Upon fitting the tiny goldfish with the homemade life preserver, the fish is now able swim free with the rest of its buddies.
