Shaquille O’Neal told WXIA on Friday that he wants to become a sheriff in 2020. The NBA Hall of Famer told the Atlanta TV station that he’s been thinking about running for a while, but doesn’t want to become a mayor. "This is not about politics for me. It's something that I always wanted to do. It's just about bringing people closer together. You know, when I was coming up, people love and respected the police, the deputies. And I want to be the one to bring that back, especially in the community that I serve." Shaq is already an honorary deputy of Clayton County in Georgia and has been a reserve police officer in Florida, Los Angeles, and Arizona.
