Driving with assistance from semi-autonomous systems is sometimes called "autopilot driving". Autopilot driving is accomplished through the use of multiple types of technology. This includes radar, ultrasonic sensors, and camera systems. Autopilot features integrate one or more of these technologies in order to function. Forward collision with automated braking uses a combination of radar and cameras. Parking assist uses cameras along with perimeter sensors. And lane departure assist uses forward facing cameras to detect lane markings. However, these "autopilot" systems are not fully autonomous. Some automakers have already revealed future "hands-free" systems. For now these systems still provide an extra hand for getting around safer.
