YouTube will require this many views until creators can make money
  • 7 years ago
If you want to make money off YouTube, you will now need to have at least 10,000 lifetime views on your channel. "This new threshold gives us enough information to determine the validity of a channel," Ariel Bardin, YouTube’s VP of product management, wrote in a blog post. "It also allows us to confirm if a channel is following our community guidelines and advertiser policies. By keeping the threshold to 10k views, we also ensure that there will be minimal impact on our aspiring creators." YouTube first launched its YouTube Partner Program in 2007, which allowed anyone to create a channel on the site and instantly make money by having ads on their videos.
