Mitsubishi Lancer has always had a very questionable success. To be honest, it never even tried to push into a more luxurious market, or add some top-of-the-line gadgets and features to the existing configuration of the vehicle. This compact car always served the purpose of being the go-to vehicle for new and younger drivers, who need to improve their driving skill. It is definitely much better to practice in a smaller vehicle, than in a truck. The changes that this car has undergone over the previous years have been minimal, and there were even rumors of the 2018 Mitsubishi Lancer being the last one before they discontinue it. Another reason for this decision is a scandal similar to that of the Volkswagen diesel manipulations. Supposedly, Mitsubishi tampered with the fuel efficiency levels of the Lancer.
The 2018 facelift won’t bring too many differences to the existing model. Expect the standard treatment of a car getting a refresh. This means that all the basic car exterior parts are going to get a minor update. A new and refreshed grille will add to the compact appearance of the vehicle. The headlights and the taillights are probably going to get redesigned as well, in order to include the latest LED technology. The bumpers are going to be bigger, which will make the car look more menacing. Overall, the appearance of the Mitsubishi Lancer was always very attractive and recognizable. It just needed more in terms of updates. It will remain on the Mitsubishi’s GS platform, a lightweight, rigid architecture.
We cannot talk about the cabin with any certainty, at least not for now. Expect to see the regular treatment of the interior as well. So, aside from leather seating and maybe even some fine carpentry, don’t expect to see too many differences. ====================================== 2018 / 2019 Mitsubishi Lancer might just be the last Lancer model before it is discontinued.
