House in D.C suburb explodes on day it was to be auctioned

A house in a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C. was levelled early on Friday by an explosion heard for miles around.

The blast was so powerful it damaged nearby homes, according to officials.

A legal notice appearing in The Washington Post on Wednesday said the home would be sold at auction on Friday afternoon.
