Joe Biden: Fight against cancer is 'the only bipartisan thing left in America'

Former Vice President Joe Biden called on the tech industry to help find a cure for cancer in his keynote speech during the annual SXSW festival. In his efforts to convince "innovative minds" to join in on his goal, Biden delivered a message of hope for eradicating the disease. "The only bipartisan thing left in America is the fight against cancer...Your generation can be the first generation on earth that goes through life with a completely different understanding of cancer as preventable -- a controllable disease, rather than a death sentence," Biden said. Joe and his wife Dr. Jill Biden founded the Biden Foundation, which focuses on cancer research, domestic violence, and equality. The Bidens have been working on their "Cancer Moonshot" project for more than a year. The family lost their son, Beau, who died of brain cancer in 2015 at the age of 46.
