General Motors to lay off over 1,000
General Motors Co will lay off 1,100 employees in May. The Lansing Delta Township assembly plant in Michigan will move production of a vehicle to Tennessee. The plant in Tennessee will focus on building a new GMC Acadia SUV. The job cuts were a result of Americans buying less cars and purchasing larger vehicles like the SUV. General Motors previously announced cuts for its Lordstown, Ohio, Lansing Grand River, and Detroit-Hamtramck plants.
