Senate confirms Wilbur Ross as Trump's commerce secretary
  • 7 years ago
Billionaire investor Wilbur Ross has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be President Trump's commerce secretary. The U.S. Senate voted 72-27 on Monday evening. The confirmation, however, didn't go as smooth as it could have with Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer expressing his concern over Ross's connection to the Bank of Cyprus, where he's the vice chairman. Democrats also wished for Ross to explain his possible connection with Russian shareholder Viktor Vekselberg, who's described as a friend to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
