Kanye West wins tiny battle over legal fight for hit single

Kanye West gets a tiny win in the legal battle over his 2013 hit single, New Slaves, that samples a Hungarian song. A federal judge granted Kanye’s request that lawyers for Hungarian artist Gabor Presser depose him in Los Angeles and not in New York. Kanye West lives in California with his wife, Kim Kardashian, and their two children, which is why he requested the move. Presser sued West for copyright infringement after the hip-hop artist sampled 85 seconds of the song, “Gyöngyhajú Lány” (“The Girl with Pearly Hair”). West was sued for $2.5 million last May, and a trial date has been set for May 15th.
