Cage The Elephant Surprised By Broader Appeal

When American rock band Cage The Elephant started working on their fourth album Tell Me I’m Pretty, honesty and pureness in the music was key. A gamble, says frontman Matt Shultz, because he thought it might alienate some listeners. Taking home a Grammy for Best Rock Album quickly squashed those doubts. “It means that it’s working, more so than I thought it would. As a whole, Western civilization is trending towards a more surface level version of whatever experience you’re talking about. We though that maybe you could cut through all the noise by making the art and expressiveness more important than commerciality.“
