Richard Gere plays a father and husband and he's really bored in his life so he decides to take ballroom dancing lessons. In this scene he's supposed to go to a farewell party to his teacher played by Jennifer Lopez but he's not sure if he wants to go.His wife played by Susan Sarandon persuades him to go.
