Strawberry crop destroyed after sky lantern lands on farm

Shocking footage has emerged from eastern China of a strawberry plantation on fire after a sky lantern landed on the farm.

The video, captured in Linyi, Shandong Province last Saturday, shows the crop completely engulfed in flames, after the lantern was launched during a nearby festival and landed in the strawberry field.

According to local reports, around £32,000 GBP in damage was done to the farmer's produce.

Chinese sky lanterns are launched during festivals and are supposed to send positive messages to the "Gods".

They are made of paper and contain a flame, flying in the same way hot air balloons do.
