Driver abandons vehicle and jumps into river to escape police

A bizarre video has emerged from China of a man walking in a river after he abandoned his vehicle as he was stopped by police for a control.

In the footage, filmed in Shanghai last week, the man can be seen walking in the water while a police officer follow his on the river bank.

According to local reports, the man left his vehicle and jumped into the river to escape the police control as he was inebriated.

He was reportedly arrested and detained by police.
