Six Volkswagen executives indicted, agree to $4.3B settlement

U.S. prosecutors charged six Volkswagen exexutives for their participation in the emissions scandal on Wednesday. The automaker has now agreed to pay $4.3 billion in fines in addition to paying California $153.8 million. said Andrew McCabe, the FBI's deputy director, said. Five of the six current and former Volkswagen executives are still Germany and it is not clear if they will come to the U.S. to face charges. According to the indictment, the executives engaged in a conspiracy to surpass the U.S. emissions tests for 10 years.
