NBA, NBPA reach tentative agreement on new CBA

The NBA and NBPA announced Wednesday that they have reached a tentative agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement, pending approval by team owners and players. The proposed deal would last for seven years and contain an opt-out clause for both parties after year 6. A joint statement said that a prime feature of the new CBA would help teams retain their stars. Two key features: Average annual player salary expected to jump from $5 million to nearly $9 million, while the annual split of basketball-related income will remain at a 49 to 51 percent split, sources said.
