Donald Trump said in a Tuesday interview with the New York Times that he does see “some connectivity” between climate change and the actions of humans, a Times reporter wrote in a tweet.
Mike Grynbaum quotes Trump as saying, "I think there is some connectivity. Some, something. It depends on how much.'"
The president-elect also reportedly voiced his intention to keep an “open mind” on issues involving the climate and identified “clean air” as being “vitally important.”
Trump has flipped his views on the matter a number of times in recent years.
In 2009, he called on President Obama to push for legislative action directed at fighting global warming, notes Politico.
However, throughout his presidential campaign, Trump vehemently denied that climate change exists, going so far as to call it a ‘hoax.'
Among his campaign pledges was to weaken regulations established to protect the environment, particularly those that have adversely impacted the coal industry.
