Researchers from Stanford University in Palo Alto claim to have found a brain-circuit in mice that is a key component of the brain's reward system. They also saw that stimulating this circuit could cause animals to awaken from sleep-cycles. Findings could lead to new treatments for sleep disorders, such as narcolepsy. "This has potential huge clinical relevance," says Luis de Lecea, professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences.
