Video has emerged of a rescue among the rubble in central Italy following Sunday’s (Oct 30) earthquake.

Firefighters guided by their own sniffer dog began digging beneath a collapsed building. Gradually it became evident a small animal was there, still alive 24 hours after the quake.

A dog finally emerged covered in dust, thirsty, but looking otherwise unharmed.

No deaths or critical injuries have been reported in Norcia which was near the epicentre of Sunady’s powerful quake, the fourth to strike the region since August.
