Rescuers spotted the animal's legs poking out of the rubble as they were clearing a collapsed building in the quake-hit town of Norcia. Remarkably the dog survived the 6.6-magnitude tremor, which struck on Sunday morning, and was carefully lifted to safety by Italian firefighters before lapping up some water.
