"Leaven of Malice" by Robertson Davies was first published in 1954. It is his second novel in The Salterton Trilogy. His other two novels in the trilogy are "Tempest Tost" and "A Mixture of Frailities."
Robertson Davies was the winner of the Stephen Leacock Award for Humour in 1955 for his present novel "Leaven of Malice."
