Oliver Hart and Bengt Holmstrom were awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Science on Monday for their contributions to contract theory, helping the understanding of issues like the performance-based pay for top executives.
The winners will split an 8 million Swedish kronor ($924,000) award funded by the Swedish central bank.
