The Bernoise pond is registered as a national importance for its high value of amphibian population species and their environments.
The migration route matched with one of the access roads of the railway construction site. The passage for amphibians is part of a compensation plan of this rail project. The passage for amphibians is made of a gutter in “L” shape with 4 passages bellow the road (pipes). It was constructed between 2008 and 2009, it is 300 m long and placed in front of the reproduction site.
In winter 2012-2013, three temporary water ponds were created south-east to the road. The purpose was to intercept the amphibians before their migration and to offer them new spawning areas, especially for the agile frog. On top of that “the yellow-bellied toad” (Bombina variegata, vulnerable species according to the red list), a new species for the aera, was observed in two of the new water ponds.
